My Independence at HOME is looking for professional caregivers with a strong work ethic who, in addition to having a passion for caring for the elderly and adults with disabilities, possess the following traits: 


• Interpersonal Skills - Given the nature of this profession, your participants will often be in varying degrees of pain or even mental stress; requiring you to be very sensitive to their needs, emotions and behavior. You must always remember to remain compassionate, caring, attentive and pleasant.

Physical Endurance - Your responsibilities may involve lifting or turning participants who are disabled. For this reason, you must be comfortable engaging in physical tasks.

Time Management Skills - Your relationship with the participant often evolves into that of an extended family member.

• Detail Oriented - Every participant with whom you work will have an Individual Service Plan which must be followed in order to ensure proper care. This plan should remain in the home at all times and used as a reference as needed.

Furthermore, you should be comfortable performing the following duties:
• Assisting participants with bathing and/or dressing
• Performing light housekeeping (i.e. laundry, washing dishes, etc.)
• Preparing meals and assisting with feeding if needed
• Arranging transportation to doctor's offices
• Organizing and scheduling participants appointments
• Coordinating outings
• Shopping for groceries
• Providing companionship
